Everyone has a bad day once in awhile; it is almost expected. But have you been finding yourself constantly feeling down? Making the people around you sad? You are not alone, young people today face ever-increasing pressures in school, work, and their personal lives. Although you may not be alone, that is no reason to continue to live with a negative mindset. There are so many reasons to have a positive outlook, here are just some of the ways Mayo Clinic recommends can improve your health:

  • More resistant to sickness
  • Lower stress levels and reduced risk of depression
  • Better ability to handle stressful situations

Just to Name a Few

Although it may take years of practice and commitment, there are ways to achieve not only a better mindset but a more balanced life. Here are just a few ways:

Surround Yourself with Positive People

Have you found yourself spending time with some people only to feel emotionally distraught after? This is a major warning sign that these people are not good for you. Join a fitness class, book club, or other groups or clubs to meet people with common interests to you.

Be Health-Focused

Take some time away from alcohol, sugar, and other processed foods, and focus on whole foods, a balanced diet, and plenty of exercise. You will likely find you have more energy, and can take the time to devote yourself to meaningful projects.

Laugh, Laugh a Lot!

Feeling a little blue? Look for ways to make yourself laugh a little! Maybe that is a funny movie or TV Show? YouTube also has clips of comedy clips and other comedy based content. Or, go a seek out a friend or family member who knows how to put a smile on your face, whether you live close or far!

Check- in

Take some time in your day, regardless of how busy you are to check in. Need a 10-minute break to sit somewhere quiet? Do that for yourself! Be careful not to over indulge but listen to what your body and mind need.
